Literary festivals around the world

It’s said that everyone has at least one book in them – and there are plenty of us who want to get that book out. A good place to start is by attending a literary festival, where you can meet agents and publishers, as well as spend a day or two mingling with fellow scribes.

International Literary Festival, Berlin

Focusing on international prose and lyric poetry, this 10-day festival offers readings, talks, workshops, and exhibitions.

LA Times Festival of Books, Los Angeles

Entering its 21st year, this relaxed outdoor event hosts some of the most interesting guest speakers around. Past speakers include Margaret Atwood and Ray Bradbury.

April 9–10

Stoke Newington Literary Festival, UK

It may be the new kid on the block, but this festival has wasted no time making its mark with a contemporary platform and world class guests.

June 3–5

Miami Book Fair

More than 300 author readings and countless discussion panels take place over eight days, under the rustle of swaying palm trees with a balmy breeze in the air. Past guests include Helen Fielding and Dan Brown.

Pen World Voices Festival of International Literature, New York

With a different theme each year, this festival has been running for 90 years. It features performances, readings, and discussions over 10 days.
